Guidelines for evaluation - Tips

TFollow SMART formula

S - Specific - in the aspects of Title, Problems, Study Area, Method and content
M - Measurable - Measurability of the problem in quantitative or qualitative terms
A - Appropriateness - Appropriateness in terms of its objectives and methods in relation to the problem, educational level, age, situation
R - Realistic - Realistic in terms of problems, methods, objectives conclusion and suggestions including follow-up activities
T - Time-bound - Time frame of the study

(Project works which are carried out for longer periods, effecting normal course of studies etc., are to be discouraged at the same time too short duration projects are also to be discouraged.)

And lastly the relation of the Project work with the focal theme and its relativity with the situation around.

Priorities for the phases of project evaluation :

  1. Experimental works are to be given more priority than the survey works done.
    In the case of survey works verify the appropriateness of the questions used in the questionnaire including selection of the sample and size (numbers).
  2. Nature of involvement of the participant with the project work
  3. Innovativeness –
    • In defining the problem
    • In framing methods and design of the experiments
    • Follow-up – in relation to practical applicability

Aspects of Evaluation for analysing project presentation

  1. Presentation of the subject matter
  2. Presentation of models, charts, tables and other visuals
  3. Ability to co-relate the project with sorroundings
  4. Creativity and innovativeness
  5. Originality in framing methodology and objectives
  6. Interaction

Verify the following aspects

  • Whether the participant (Group Leader) had participated in other National Congresses earlier.
  • His or her own contribution in the project work
  • Reason for selecting a particular project or subject
  • Whether the follow-up was really done by the participants
  • How the problem or subject is related to the focal theme
